“Acid Communism” was coined by radical theorist Mark Fisher, who, before his untimely death, was working on a book of that name. This session explores what the phrase —a reference to the counterculture of the 1960s and 1970s—could mean today, by using the techniques of consciousness raising and consciousness expansion. These techniques aim to unearth desires which are produced within contemporary society but whose fulfilment points beyond capitalism. Participants will engage in small and large group discussions to try and position their feelings and experiences within the broader social structures that shape them.
