What is a University? Academia is being transformed into a new sector of the marketplace and, whilst this has provoked resistance from students and tutors in the form of mass protests and strikes, underneath these clashes the ‘space of learning’, its culture and purpose, has already undergone huge transformations. We want to remember and rebuild the public university, while continuing to imagine what education could look like beyond the capitalist present.

Organisers from The Free University of Brighton (FUB) and the Antiuniversity will facilitate a session which explores practical alternatives, the possibility for democratic and mutual education, what kind of culture is needed to enable learning and study and whether the university can be reformed or revolutionised.
